For no other event on earth could the countdown have commenced one year ahead. The Olympic Games have that record.
The Beijing games have just begun. What does it hold for the countries of the world? So far, America, Russia and East Germany have dominated the Olympics medal tally. Japan and Korea tried to break their monopoly but failed.
But china this time may do that. If that happens this is the first time an Asian country will top the medals tally in the Olympics and that will be historic. In the last two games china has gone up to the top three positions. It has a fantastic record in swimming, diving, basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, gymnastics, archery and athletics.
Don’t be surprised if china sweeps every event.
